Summary

At the beginning of this semester, I told myself that I want to broaden my knowledge and enhance my communication skill. I has been researching on the topic of sustainability and learned a lot about this topic so I would say I did fulfill my goal. However, I didn't talk to too many people for this project. I feel like I'm still scared of reaching out to people and hoping everything will be fine even if I didn't talk to many people. But the fact is, I will no able to improve my design if I don't know what other people think. It's easy to say and hard to do, I have been fighting with it for years and getting better gradually. Even though I haven't talk too many to people in person, I showcased my scoby leather to multiple classes and expose this materials to more people rather than just my classmates in Thesis 1. I also got feedbacks from other class and made improvement based on their feedbacks. Hence, I still feel like I made a lot of progress in terms of enhancing my communication skill.

For the project itself, I was struggle to settle down on one idea. I wanted to do an interactive installation which can showcase all the skill set I have but I also wanted to taggle the sustainability topic because I felt the need to raise up the awareness around this topic. I was trying to merge this two ideas together but only realized later on that not every information should be shown as an interactive installation; it just doesn't make sense. So I finally decided to go with exploring in sustainability field. For me the hard part was the time. Because I needed to grow the scoby myself and it took at least 2 weeks to grow one, so during that time all I though all I could do was to wait. Now I think about it, I could have rearrange my time better; I could figure out my storyboard, market research, screen task flow and etc. while waiting the scoby to grow. Next semester, I hope I could figure out what I need to do in order to complete this project earlier and could plan out my project beforehand so that I won't ended up just wasting my time.

Overall, I still very proud of what I have done for this semester, and hoping I could really make a difference in this world. Lastly, I want to thank my professor Kate Rutter who has been pushing me and helping me through out the entire project.
